TJ takes on New Zealand

We wish TJ lots of luck as he represents the Manly Marlins in NZ in April.

At Manly Beach Health Club we love seeing so many talented and healthy young people in our community, and today we hear from talented and spirited TJ from the Herring family.

We are proud to be sponsoring TJ Herring from Balgowlah North primary, when he goes on tour to NZ for the under 11’s Manly Marlins Rugby Union Rep Tour this April!

How long have you been playing footy for?

I started union when I was 5 so I have been playing for about 6 years now.

What do you love about it?

It is tough and hard and you get hurt.

Apart from footy, what other things do you do to stay fit?

Lots of sports like Golf, Cricket and Swimming.

You look like you come from a fit family?

I have always liked sport and my mum and dad have inspired me as they are really active and fit. My brothers Darcy and Brodie play sport as well. Darcy is playing for the Bears this year and Brodie plays League and Union too.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to play League for the Manly Sea Eagles

How often do you train?

I train twice a week for Union, and I also play touch footy over summer every Friday.  I was selected to play A Grade for the State Cup this year.

Tell me about your tour to NZ?

It will be really fun as it is my first time ever out of Australia and there are two teams going (a total of 36 players). We are going to play 4 games against NZ teams and we will be billeted out to local families. The Marlins Rep teams are selected from 4 Clubs – the Raiders, Forest, the Roos and Harbord.

We wish TJ lots of luck on this NZ tour and look forward to hearing more from this bright young talent in the future. TJ is the son of one of our dedicated members, Trent Herring.
